Christopher St. John is an artist, educator, and ceramicist based on the Texas Gulf Coast. His interdisciplinary practice combines ceramics, drawing, sound, video, and field observations to explore relationships between material, ecology, and nonhuman life.

Working with primarily hand built ceramic vessels and sculptural forms, he investigates clay as both material and record, incorporating local observations, field research, and place-based processes into his work. Recent projects have focused on resonance, listening, ecological stewardship, and the role of objects as points of contact between human and more-than-human worlds.

St. John is a Professor of Art at San Jacinto College and holds an MFA in Ceramics from Ohio University. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of the North and the Hawai’i State Art Museum.
